| Project Name: | W3 |
| Company/Org: | Louisiana Family Recovery Corps |
|
The W3 system (Who, What, Where) was designed to help connect volunteers and those in need of their services. The program unifies the efforts of many disaster recovery organizations for the Gulf South and local and national charities so that their efforts can be the most efficient. The “who” is for the different charities and organizations involved, the “what” is the description of the program or event that is being hosted, and the “where” is the actual housing location that the activity is taking place. Individuals can log into the system to find what types of programs are being hosted in their area. Programs that are supported include education, job training, child care and activities, and meals. Housing areas across the state of Louisiana are shown with a calendar of events to easily coordinate volunteer support efforts. The LFRC is a private non-profit organization that coordinates the efforts of numerous disaster response organizations and social service providers. The Recovery Corps programs are based on principles of mutual responsibility, accountability and partnerships with disaster affected individuals and families. The Recovery Corps began after hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005 to provide citizens affected by this disaster with access to resources that will assist their recovery. The Recovery Corps helps Louisiana residents with children’s services, housing, education, emotional well being and employment.
